Natural Crafts, Art & Food
Drawing from Nature
This one-day workshop will introduce the world of trees to artists and non-artist alike.
After learning about the parts of a leaf and their positional relationships from Joe Blanton, Adult Programs Director, you will get a chance to identify some of the more common trees at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. After lunch on your own, the workshop resumes with Houston landscape artist, Steve Parker. He will demonstrate and discuss techniques used in rendering trees and leaves with charcoal and graphite. With an enhanced knowledge of the subject, participants will then get a chance to render their own impressions of trees and their leaves.
