Wild Fliers
Session 1: June 16-20
Session 2: July 21-25

Over 275 different birds have passed through the Arboretum at one time or another. We’ll “meet” some of the most common summer residents and learn their calls and colors. Students will become amateur ornithologists as we explore the ecology of birds, nests and eggs.

Session 1: June 23-27
Session 2: July 28-Aug 1

It may be disgusting, but feces, blood, and regurgitation are all important elements in nature. Students will identify animal scat, learn why some animals regurgitate, why some animals suck blood, and why some people EAT bugs! Oh, that’s gross!

Angry Earth
Session 1: June 30-July 3 (reduced fees)
Session 2: Aug 4-8

Sometimes the earth can be a frightening place to live. Hurricanes, volcanoes, tsunamis, floods, tornadoes all rock our world. Learn how wind, ice, snow, raging storms, and Earth’s inner fire have transformed the planet and life on it.

First Texans
Session 1: July 7-11
Session 2: August 11-15

Discover how the first Texans lived. We’ll learn how the Native Americans lived in harmony with their environment and how they utilized natural resources. Students will have the opportunity to practice shelter-building, food-gathering, and pottery and weaving skills using native materials. We’ll also learn to communicate with Native American sign language and play traditional games.
