Repeating Patterns in Nature

March 12 2022 from 10:30 am 12:30 pm

$20 member / $35 nonmember (per person)
Instructor: Lawson Taylor
Ages 12 and up

Ever wonder why lighting and trees branch in similar patterns or why snail shells look like whirlpools, hurricanes, and the Milky Way galaxy? In this class we will discuss repeating patterns in nature and the math behind them (but don’t worry – you don’t need to be a math whiz to follow the discussion). We’ll take an especially close look at why certain patterns are common and others are not.

Class will be held rain or shine and will involve a short outdoor hike. Please dress for the weather.

The Arboretum will be closing at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 19 for our Alfresco Gala.Click here to learn more about this important fundraising event.
