The Secret Life of Squirrels

August 13 2022 from 10:30 am 12:30 pm

$20 member / $35 nonmember (per person)
Instructor: Kelsey Low
Ages 12 and up

Squirrels are so common that we take them for granted, but they really live fascinating lives. For example, did you know that Eastern Gray Squirrels are one of the few animal species known to lie to deceive others, tree squirrels have built-in sunglasses, and flying squirrels are vicious predators? These ubiquitous and adaptable creatures aren’t just backyard nuisances – they play essential roles in our ecosystem. We will focus our three Houston species: Eastern Gray, Fox, and Southern Flying.

Class will be held rain or shine – dress for the weather and wear walking shoes. Weather permitting, we will be walking about 0.25 miles on mulch and boardwalk.

The Woodway Entrance will be closed to the public March 28-31 for the Texas Children's Houston Open. Please use the 610 Entrance during this time. The Nature Center building will be closed Sunday, March 31 for Easter. The trails, outdoor restrooms, and Nature Playscape will remain open.
