DESCRIPTION:$40 members / $45 nonmembersAges 21+ \n\n\n\nJoin us for an accessible hike out on the Arboretum trails. This hike is a ¾ mile trail that consists of boardwalks\, decomposed granite trails\, metal grates\, and paved concrete. Any registrations or requests submitted after that timeframe cannot guarantee alternative options. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nparking\n\n\n\nParking is free for all Arboretum Members\, but you must enter your Member parking code in the kiosks or on the Park Mobile or Park Houston apps. Nonmembers must pay a $6.50 parking fee which directly supports the Arboretum’s mission of nature education and conservation. All guests are subject to ticketing if they do not enter their Member parking code or pay the parking fee. Please do not leave valuables in your car. Outside restrooms are located at the Nature Center building. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nrain date & cancellations\n\n\n\nThis event is rain or shine\, but should flooding occur\, the rain date is Friday\, May 22. DESCRIPTION:$130 member / $150 nonmember (per person)Ages 16+\, minors must be accompanied by an adult \n\n\n\nNot only does lacto-fermentation preserve foods like kimchi and sauerkraut\, but it also greatly increases their nutritional value and flavor. Join Dr. Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen for this hands-on experience in the simple art of creating lacto-fermented foods using local wild plants! Students will leave with their own batch of fermenting greens as well as the knowledge to make more on their own. \n\n\n\nPlease dress for the weather and wear clothes you won’t mind getting messy. \n\n\n\n\nregister online\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor bio: Dr. Mark Vorderbruggen brings his background as a Ph.D. in chemistry to the world of Houston’s edible and medicinal wild plants. He is the author of “The Idiot’s Guide: Foraging\,” runs the informative “Foraging Texas” website\, formulates medicinal plant remedies through Medicine Man Plant Co.\, and is always educating about useful plants on TV\, online\, and in person.
