In this unique virtual class\, we’ll explore the history of Camp Logan using real artifacts found at the Arboretum AND cook recipes inspired by these artifacts\, historical menus\, and period cookbooks. We’ll prepare delicious cheese toast and refrigerator dill pickles\, both familiar foods for Camp Logan soldiers\, to help give us a taste of what life was like in 1917. \n\n\n\nParticipants need to have basic kitchen supplies.

Even better\, our recipes are vegan and dairy-free. \n\n\n\nParticipants need to have basic kitchen supplies\, and a food processor or blender is strongly recommended.

Take a look at our next Edible Arboretum class – Blackberry Chocolate Jam! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nKeep the winter chill away with delicious homemade beer bread and cheddar apple beer soup! In this class you’ll get (almost) everything you need to make two simple and tasty recipes using beer from our friends at Saint Arnold Brewing Company. You’ll even get your own loaf pan to bake in! Then follow along with the instructor during the interactive\, online class. Pro-tip: if you make a simple green salad ahead of time\, you’ll have dinner ready to go by the end of the class. \n\n\n\nSupply pickup is January 29 & 30 from 9 am – 4 pm in the Nature Center building. \n\n\n\nYou will need the following tools from your own kitchen: sifter or mesh strainer\, oven and stove\, large bowl\, stirring spoon or spatula\, knife\, cutting board\, pot\, and whisk. The class will be recorded\, and the video will be sent out after the class. Registrants will receive a class link on their receipt and will need to use this link to pre-register for the class on Zoom.
