DESCRIPTION:$20 member / $35 nonmember (per person)Instructor: Lawson TaylorAges 12 and up \n\n\n\nEcology is the relationship between living things – including humans – and their physical environment. From the slow march of forest succession to the rapid impacts of squirrel “predation” on trees\, ecological processes shape our world. In this class we’ll focus on basic ecological concepts using examples at the Arboretum. Along the way\, we’ll discuss how the Arboretum’s unique ecology influences our own landscape management decisions. \n\n\n\nRegistration is closed. Click on the button below for our next Nature Revealed class! \n\n\n\n\nNature Revealed: Under the Microscope\n\n\n\n\nWear close-toed shoes and dress for the weather. \n\n\n\nInstructor bio: Lawson Taylor is the Forest Ecologist for the Houston Arboretum. He uses ecological theories and concepts to maintain a healthy and functional forested ecosystem. He got his degree in Forest Recreation Management at Stephen F. Austin State University.

We’ll practice using binoculars (we’ll even have pairs for you to borrow)\, learn how to spot birds\, and work through the basics of bird ID. \n\n\n\nThis class has SOLD OUT. Take a look at our next nature adventure! \n\n\n\n\nWildflower ID Walk\n\n\n\n\nThis class will be entirely outdoors and take place rain or shine. Wear close-toed shoes and dress for the weather.
