These ubiquitous and adaptable creatures aren’t just backyard nuisances – they play essential roles in our ecosystem. A mushroom is just the visible tip of the fungal iceberg – these organisms are actually a vast network of filaments\, always searching for new interactions. In this class\, we’ll focus on some of our local fungi and their complex relationships with plants\, insects\, and humans. We’ll learn how some fungi form “social networks” with plants and help them gather nutrients\, while others are plant parasites.
