DESCRIPTION:2nd Saturday of the month8:00 – 10:00 amFree\, but donations appreciatedAll ages\, minors must be accompanied by an adult \n\n\n\nMeet in front of the Nature Center building \n\n\n\nWork on your bird watching skills while helping the Arboretum monitor bird populations on a fun\, relaxed morning walk. Join us on the second Saturday of each month in the courtyard behind the building for a two-hour bird survey led by Arboretum staff members\, Kelsey Low and Theo Ostler. We welcome all levels of bird watching skill and all ages (as long as you’re quiet) – but no dogs\, please! If you have binoculars of your own\, please bring them. We have a limited number of binoculars available to borrow. \n\n\n\nThe June 13\, 2026 Bird Survey has been cancelled. Please join us in July!

DESCRIPTION:Fourth Saturday of the Month9:00 – 11:00 amFree\, donations appreciatedAll ages\, minors must be accompanied by an adult \n\n\n\nMeet in front of the Nature Center building \n\n\n\nDiscover the hidden seasonal rhythms of nature firsthand on our guided Phenology Walks\, where we track the life cycles of different plants across ecosystems\, from the first spring bud burst to winter dormancy. You’ll learn how shifting weather patterns and climate change influence the timing of these important events in our local ecosystems and how you can become a community scientist\, contributing vital data from your own backyard to a global research initiative.  \n\n\n\nThese relaxing morning walks are led by scientists from Rice University and staff from the Arboretum.
