This special evening features a romantic walk on softly lit trails\, through the forest and under the moonlight. Guests will experience six food stops and sample specially selected beers and wines. Help raise funds for the Arboretum’s mission of conservation and nature education while enjoying our most unique event of the year. \n\n\n\nEarly bird registration opens Monday\, December 1. Receive $10 off per ticket when you register before December 31. \n\n\n\nTapas on the Trails is a rain or shine event. Current forecasts show a chance of light to moderate rain throughout the day\, so we recommend dressing for the weather. Our team has prepared for wet weather and have a rain plan in place\, so we are confident the evening will be fantastic regardless of conditions. \n\n\n\nAt this time\, there is no rain date and no planned cancellation. Join us to help collect data for the longest running community science project in the world. We welcome all birding skill levels. We will split into teams to find\, identify\, and count as many birds as we can find along our five miles of trails.  \n\n\n\nThere will be two “shifts”: an early 6:00 am start to look for American Woodcock in the Meadow\, and a later 9:00 am start. You can sign up for one or both shifts. We will meet at the Administration Building Staff & Volunteer Entrance (just head to the Nature Center Courtyard and you’ll see us getting ready). We recommend bringing your own binoculars\, but we will have some available to borrow. Cameras are strongly encouraged! \n\n\n\nWe will meet rain or shine – dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes. Arboretum staff will be available to answer your questions and explain the “why” behind our playscape design. You’ll get a private tour of our Discovery Room and meet the live animals in our care\, including snakes\, turtles\, frogs\, and fish. We’ll discuss their housing\, maintenance\, feeding\, and even entertainment – yes\, even snakes need to have a little fun! \n\n\n\n\nRegistration Closed\n\n\n\n\nBe aware that we will be seeing all of our ambassador animals up close and discussing their feeding needs\, including two snakes\, a tarantula\, and hissing cockroaches. If you are uncomfortable with reptiles\, insects\, spiders\, or the details of feeding carnivorous animals\, this might not be the class for you!
