Children with an adult companion can join a naturalist for a story reading\, a simple nature or sensory development activity\, and a stroller-friendly hike on the beautiful Arboretum trails. Arrive dressed in close-toed shoes and comfortable play clothes. Be prepared for the weather including hat\, sunscreen\, jackets\, raincoat\, or rain boots\, as needed. Enjoy an interesting new nature experience each week with themes such as ponds\, bones\, senses\, and leaves.  \n\n\n\nSelect Mondays9:30 am-10:15 am10:30 am-11:15 am \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\npricing\n\n\n\nFree for Family Tree Members and above (please have member card on hand)$7 per child for nonmembers\, pay at the door. \n\n\n\nNo preregistration is necessary; however\, attendance is limited to 20 children per session. Sign-up will take place in front of the Beautyberry Classroom. Doors will close 15 minutes after the class begins or once the session is full. DESCRIPTION:For children 0 – 18 months and their caregivers\n\n\n\nBabies in nature? Babies ARE nature! Babies who spend time outside are stronger\, healthier\, more confident\, and better sleepers. Learn how to support your Hatchlings as they develop motor skills\, test physical limits\, cultivate their sense of wonder\, and get messy in a safe place to try new things. \n\n\n\nHatchlings will engage in outdoor nature play in this unique opportunity to interact\, explore\, and bond with their caregivers in the natural world. This program will be held outdoors and will include loose parts and messy play with natural sensory elements such as sand\, mud\, grass\, sticks\, leaves\, and water. \n\n\n\nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required for all Hatchlings classes. \n\n\n\nSelect Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArboretum Member registration for Fall 2026 classes opens Tuesday\, August 4 and Nonmember registration opens Tuesday\, August 11. Become a Family Tree Member or above to access early registration and receive the Member rate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n$12 member / $15 nonmember Per child/caregiver pair\, per classMore than one caregiver may accompany a registered child. Please dress yourself and your Hatchling for the weather and bring a spare change of clothes for your Hatchling. \n\n\n\nHatchlings classes are for children 0-18 months and their caregivers only. Please do not bring older siblings to class. \n\n\n\nAccessibility \n\n\n\nThis program is open to all abilities. Some areas where classes might be held are not stroller-friendly or wheelchair accessible. Please plan to carry your Hatchling to various locations and let us know if you need assistance with caregiver accessibility.
