DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays\, June 2 – August 4$15 (per class)Ages 5-10 \n\n\n\nJoin us for a morning of nature discovery as we explore the different habitats of the Arboretum. Our weekly program includes outdoor explorations\, private Discovery Room visits\, adventure play on our Nature Playscape\, and the opportunity to meet one of our Ambassador Animals! \n\n\n\n\nfaqs\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease come dressed for the outdoors\, including closed-toe shoes. This is a drop-off class. Parents and siblings are welcome to explore the Arboretum grounds on their own. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSummer Children’s Program registration will open Tuesday\, February 3\, 2026 for Arboretum Members. Nonmember registration will open Tuesday\, February 10\, 2026. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Habitat is a Home\n\n\n\nLearn how and where living things meet their needs. Students will go for a scavenger hunt through the woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, or wetland habitats to learn how organisms survive in their environment. \n\n\n\n\nJune 2\n\n\n\nJuly 7\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreature Features\n\n\n\nDiscover adaptations that help organisms survive. While exploring the Arboretum’s habitats\, students will identify and compare adaptive characteristics of organisms. Students will also practice sweep netting for insects to observe more closely. \n\n\n\n\nJune 9\n\n\n\nJuly 14\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNature’s Recyclers\n\n\n\nInvestigate how nature recycles nutrients through the process of decomposition. On our hike\, students will search for decomposers hiding under rotting logs or in the leaf litter on the forest floor. \n\n\n\n\nJune 16\n\n\n\nJuly 21\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPleased to Eat You!\n\n\n\nSearch for links in food chains by investigating who is living in the Arboretum’s ponds. Discover what local animals eat and how to classify them as herbivore\, carnivore\, or omnivore while pond dipping for aquatic creatures. \n\n\n\n\nJune 23\n\n\n\nJuly 28\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEco Explorers\n\n\n\nIdentify the ways that organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interacting with the living and non-living elements. Practice your nature journaling skills while comparing the physical characteristics of woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, and wetland habitats to determine how they support biological communities. \n\n\n\n\nJune 30\n\n\n\naugust 4

Students will go for a scavenger hunt through the woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, or wetland habitats to learn how organisms survive in their environment. \n\n\n\n\nJune 2\n\n\n\nJuly 7\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreature Features\n\n\n\nDiscover adaptations that help organisms survive. While exploring the Arboretum’s habitats\, students will identify and compare adaptive characteristics of organisms. Students will also practice sweep netting for insects to observe more closely. \n\n\n\n\nJune 9\n\n\n\nJuly 14\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNature’s Recyclers\n\n\n\nInvestigate how nature recycles nutrients through the process of decomposition. On our hike\, students will search for decomposers hiding under rotting logs or in the leaf litter on the forest floor. \n\n\n\n\nJune 16\n\n\n\nJuly 21\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPleased to Eat You!\n\n\n\nSearch for links in food chains by investigating who is living in the Arboretum’s ponds. Discover what local animals eat and how to classify them as herbivore\, carnivore\, or omnivore while pond dipping for aquatic creatures. \n\n\n\n\nJune 23\n\n\n\nJuly 28\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEco Explorers\n\n\n\nIdentify the ways that organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interacting with the living and non-living elements. Practice your nature journaling skills while comparing the physical characteristics of woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, and wetland habitats to determine how they support biological communities. \n\n\n\n\nJune 30\n\n\n\naugust 4

Students will go for a scavenger hunt through the woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, or wetland habitats to learn how organisms survive in their environment. \n\n\n\n\nJune 2\n\n\n\nJuly 7\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreature Features\n\n\n\nDiscover adaptations that help organisms survive. While exploring the Arboretum’s habitats\, students will identify and compare adaptive characteristics of organisms. Students will also practice sweep netting for insects to observe more closely. \n\n\n\n\nJune 9\n\n\n\nJuly 14\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNature’s Recyclers\n\n\n\nInvestigate how nature recycles nutrients through the process of decomposition. On our hike\, students will search for decomposers hiding under rotting logs or in the leaf litter on the forest floor. \n\n\n\n\nJune 16\n\n\n\nJuly 21\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPleased to Eat You!\n\n\n\nSearch for links in food chains by investigating who is living in the Arboretum’s ponds. Discover what local animals eat and how to classify them as herbivore\, carnivore\, or omnivore while pond dipping for aquatic creatures. \n\n\n\n\nJune 23\n\n\n\nJuly 28\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEco Explorers\n\n\n\nIdentify the ways that organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interacting with the living and non-living elements. Our weekly program includes outdoor explorations\, private Discovery Room visits\, adventure play on our Nature Playscape\, and the opportunity to meet one of our Ambassador Animals! \n\n\n\n\nfaqs\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease come dressed for the outdoors\, including closed-toe shoes. This is a drop-off class. Parents and siblings are welcome to explore the Arboretum grounds on their own. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSummer Children’s Program registration will open Tuesday\, February 3\, 2026 for Arboretum Members. Nonmember registration will open Tuesday\, February 10\, 2026. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Habitat is a Home\n\n\n\nLearn how and where living things meet their needs. Students will go for a scavenger hunt through the woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, or wetland habitats to learn how organisms survive in their environment. \n\n\n\n\nJune 2\n\n\n\nJuly 7\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreature Features\n\n\n\nDiscover adaptations that help organisms survive. While exploring the Arboretum’s habitats\, students will identify and compare adaptive characteristics of organisms. Students will also practice sweep netting for insects to observe more closely. \n\n\n\n\nJune 9\n\n\n\nJuly 14\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNature’s Recyclers\n\n\n\nInvestigate how nature recycles nutrients through the process of decomposition. On our hike\, students will search for decomposers hiding under rotting logs or in the leaf litter on the forest floor. \n\n\n\n\nJune 16\n\n\n\nJuly 21\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPleased to Eat You!\n\n\n\nSearch for links in food chains by investigating who is living in the Arboretum’s ponds. Discover what local animals eat and how to classify them as herbivore\, carnivore\, or omnivore while pond dipping for aquatic creatures. \n\n\n\n\nJune 23\n\n\n\nJuly 28\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEco Explorers\n\n\n\nIdentify the ways that organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interacting with the living and non-living elements. Practice your nature journaling skills while comparing the physical characteristics of woodland\, savanna\, prairie\, and wetland habitats to determine how they support biological communities. \n\n\n\n\nJune 30\n\n\n\naugust 4
