Please check back for updates.7:00 am – 7:30 pm \n\n\n\nThe goats have departed!\n\n\n\nGoats from GoatScaping LLC will be at the Arboretum this August clearing out invasive and aggressive native understory brush and vegetation to allow for increased biodiversity! This year\, the goats will be working on a 7 acre area in the northwest corner of the Arboretum between the 610 Parking Loop\, the Ravine Trail\, and the Event Lawn. Read below for some helpful tips for viewing the goats at work! \n\n\n\nAre you an Arboretum Member? If so\, join us on Friday\, August 7 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm for a fun\, free Members-only Meet the Mowers event! \n\n\n\nStarting the afternoon of August 7\, the goats will be in a new location because they cleared the original 7 acres so quickly! Click the button below for the map of the new area. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2026 Goat visit map\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGoat Viewing Tips\n\n\n\n\nPark at either entrance and look at the Goat Visit Map to plan your walk.\n\n\n\nStay on sidewalks and trails.\n\n\n\nKeep children and dogs away from the fence – it is electrified to keep predators like coyotes out of the area.\n\n\n\nDo not try to feed or pet the goats. From deciduous to evergreen\, here at the Arboretum we see leaves on the ground as well as in the trees all winter long. Join us and learn more about the difference between the two and why leaves are important in the fall. \n\n\n\nAnimal HomesDecember 5 \n\n\n\nThere is no central heating outdoors\, so where do the animals go when they get cold? To their homes\, of course! Burrows\, leaves\, nests\, and so much more. Find out all the different types of animal homes and who lives in what.

They fill the role of pest control specialist in our ecosystem. Want to learn more about these amazing arachnids? Then get into the Halloween spirit by learning more about spiders. \n\n\n\nFall FoliageNovember 7 \n\n\n\nAlthough Houston is not known for its fall colors\, there are still lots to learn about leaves! From deciduous to evergreen\, here at the Arboretum we see leaves on the ground as well as in the trees all winter long. Join us and learn more about the difference between the two and why leaves are important in the fall. \n\n\n\nAnimal HomesDecember 5 \n\n\n\nThere is no central heating outdoors\, so where do the animals go when they get cold? To their homes\, of course! Burrows\, leaves\, nests\, and so much more. Find out all the different types of animal homes and who lives in what.
