SUMMARY:Family Conservation Day
DESCRIPTION:In-person \n\n\n\nFREE\, no registration necessary \n\n\n\nAll Ages \n\n\n\nConservation is a large part of the Arboretum’s mission to maintain our wonderful 155 acres of native Houston habitats. Bring your family for a day of hands-on\, dirt-digging fun. This is an open house\, come and go\, event. We will have Naturalists and Conservationists on site providing instruction and answering all of your questions. \n\n\n\nThe event will be spread out on the Arboretum grounds to highlight our native habitats and the conservation efforts that go into making our trails safe for plants\, animals\, and humans! Each one of our interpretive Field Stations will be a location to ask questions\, learn\, and participate in activities. \n\n\n\nJoin us at the: \n\n\n\nNature Center – learn more about the event and the Houston ArboretumWetland Field Station – learn about our freshwater creatures and test our water qualityWoodland Field Station – learn how to identify invasive species and help us remove PrivetPrairie Field Station – learn to be a Conservationist and Naturalist from home and collect dataSavanna Field Station – learn about succession and species diversity while seeding the savannaRavine Field Station – learn to be an environmental steward on a Staff-guided hike in the shade\n\n\n\n**See the Arboretum Map for Field Station\, restroom\, and building locations** \n\n\n\nPlease dress for working outside – a hat\, sunglasses\, water bottle\, sunscreen\, and boots/closed-toed shoes are recommended.

There is not a waitlist available for this date. Our next Bingo on the Lawn on May 20th! There is also a lovely event happening on March 25th called Sip & Stroll. For more information about that event please click HERE \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEnjoy a fun morning of bingo on the new Nature Center Lawn! Blankets\, daubers\, and lawn chairs are encouraged. All parties must be spaced out to provide proper distance between all guests. Your ticket includes 6 squares of bingo (3 squares for children) for 6 rounds and two complimentary drink tickets. Guests can bring their own food and beverages\, but individually wrapped snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Small prizes will be awarded to the winners of each round. Additional squares can be purchased at the event. \n\n\n\nSponsored by Saint Arnold Brewing Company \n\n\n\nRegistrations at the event will be subject to availability. Bingo sheets provided to registrants\, daubers will be sold for $3 each.

A wetland is a zone of transition where water and land meet. Texas wetlands are more than just swamps or ponds. This unique ecosystem provides many benefits to humans\, as well as homes for numerous plants and wildlife! Explore our wetlands and learn why we need to protect this precious resource. This event is free to the public and includes a self-guided hike through our wetlands and fun activities for the kids! \n\n\n\nThis event will be outdoors and is weather dependent. Social distancing and masks are encourage. Hand sanitizer will be available at the tables.
