SUMMARY:Summer Camp All Grown Up
DESCRIPTION:Why should kids have all the fun? Treat yourself to all the joys of summer camp\, but for grown-ups! Unwind after a stressful day with hands-on nature activities\, crafts\, and outdoor exploration\, PLUS a simple snack and a refreshing beer from Saint Arnold Brewing Company. \n\n\n\nPlease dress for the weather and wear walking shoes. \n\n\n\n$20 member / $35 nonmember per classThursday\, June 19\, July 17\, and August 21Ages 21+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLost in the Woods\n\n\n\nThursday\, June 19 \n\n\n\nSometimes it’s fun to get lost in the woods! Woodlands are beautiful and full of life\, but they also help humans by providing shade\, absorbing carbon\, and much more. Meet a forest-dwelling box turtle\, make a “tree cookie” magnet\, and explore the Arboretum’s different woodland habitats on an evening hike. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWet & Wild\n\n\n\nThursday\, July 17 \n\n\n\nGet wild for wetlands! Swamps\, marshes\, ponds\, and bayous are not just great wildlife habitats; they provide vital ecosystem services for humans. Compete to catch the most bugs with your “tongue” like a frog\, go on a pond-dipping hike to meet some real wetland critters\, and discover how wetlands help control floods and clean our water. \n\n\n\n\nregister online\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrass Roots\n\n\n\nThursday\, August 21 \n\n\n\nGet down and dirty in our grasslands! Prairies and savannas are like oceans: all the fun stuff is going on under the surface. We’ll use sweep nets to hunt for insects among the grasses\, make wildflower seed balls to bring home\, and discuss how Houston’s grasslands shaped our history (and may lead us into the future). \n\n\n\n\nregister online
