Explore our ecosystems to learn about the local wildlife\, plants\, and natural history of our beautiful nature center. Hikes will vary but expect to spend 40-45 minutes on the trail. Hikes are free to the public and are first come\, first served.  \n\n\n\nPlease come prepared for the outdoors. Closed toe shoes\, a water bottle\, weather-appropriate hiking attire\, and bug spray are recommended. \n\n\n\nupcoming hikes\n\n\n\nThe December 13 Guided Nature Hike has been cancelled. Each month will feature a different scavenger hunt with a fun and educational topic. Families will meet outside of the Nature Center building before heading out on the trails for an hour-long hunt that will sharpen their observation skills and help them learn something new about nature. Then\, they will bring their completed scavenger hunt back to the Nature Center to receive a fun prize. From winter trees to pollinators and aquatic life\, every adventure is different! \n\n\n\nWinter Botany Scavenger HuntJanuary 17 \n\n\n\nTrees and other plants may look different in the winter\, but they are still just as cool! Come and join us for a family scavenger hunt to search the trails for evergreens\, spy winter wildlife visitors\, and learn how to identify trees even without their leaves. \n\n\n\nArboretum Amore Scavenger HuntFebruary 22 \n\n\n\nEven though Valentine’s Day is over\, love is still in the air at the Arboretum. Celebrate the season by spotting “lovebirds” around the Arboretum and discover how animals show their affection\, from monogamous pairs to eye-catching displays. \n\n\n\nPollinator Power Scavenger HuntApril 4 \n\n\n\nGet buzzing about pollinators! Explore the Arboretum while searching for bees\, butterflies\, birds\, and other creatures that help our native plants thrive. \n\n\n\nWater you talking about? Scavenger HuntMay 10 \n\n\n\nDive into the world of water at the Arboretum! From reptiles and fish to birds and mammals\, discover the many creatures that depend on ponds and wetlands.

DESCRIPTION:For children 18 months – 4 years\n\n\n\n\n\nEncourage your child’s curiosity about nature and spend time with them exploring outdoors! Children with an adult companion can join a naturalist for a story reading\, a simple nature or sensory development activity\, and a stroller-friendly hike on the beautiful Arboretum trails. Arrive dressed in close-toed shoes and comfortable play clothes. Be prepared for the weather including hat\, sunscreen\, jackets\, raincoat\, or rain boots\, as needed. \n\n\n\nSelect Mondays9:30 am-10:15 am10:30 am-11:15 am \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\npricing\n\n\n\nFree for Family Tree Members and above (please have member card on hand)$7 per child for nonmembers\, pay at the door (18 months and up; younger siblings welcome) \n\n\n\nNo registration necessary\, however admittance will be limited to 20 children per session. Registration will be held in front of Beautyberry Classroom. Doors will close 15 minutes after starting class or when the sign up is full.
