We will hit the trails as the sun is setting and watch night fall among the trees. Look for owls in the treetops and listen for the nightly serenade of frogs in the ponds. A light snack will be available. \n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, October 20 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm – SOLD OUT\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, November 19 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm – SOLD OUT\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, December 18 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm – SOLD OUT\n\n\n\n\nPlease come dressed for the outdoors including closed-toe shoes and jackets\, if needed. Flashlights and headlamps are discouraged to allow our participants a chance to fully immerse in the nighttime experience. No dogs\, please. Staff will carry flashlights in case of emergencies. In the event of severe weather\, we will offer a reschedule date. Be prepared for walking; we recommend leaving strollers at home unless designed for trails.

A pile of feathers\, a fluff of fur\, mysterious tracks….what is going on? Put your observation and deductive reasoning skills to the test as we study a hypothetical crime scene in the woods to try to answer the questions: what happened and who dunnit?! Together we will learn about animal adaptations\, how to identify tracks and scat\, and explore habitats to solve the riddle of the Mystery on the Trails. \n\n\n\nPlease come dressed for the out of doors\, including closed-toe shoes. \n\n\n\nThis is a drop-off class. Together\, we will learn how to safely catch and tag monarch butterflies in preparation for their peak migration through the Houston area from October 10th-22nd. By tagging monarch butterflies and reporting our findings\, we will help the Monarch Watch Tagging Program and their study of the monarch’s migration patterns. Then we’ll go on a bat hike using special detectors to listen to bat sonar over the Arboretum. \n\n\n\nDress for the weather and bring a mask to wear indoors.
