In this class we’ll learn the basics of tree ID\, from tree anatomy to common tree groups and what to look for in the field. We’ll start in the classroom and\, weather permitting\, we’ll also examine real trees on the trails to test our new skills. \n\n\n\nPlease dress for the weather and wear walking shoes. \n\n\n\n\nregister online\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor bio: Rafael Renteria is a Certified Arborist who has worked with trees since graduating from Texas A&M in 2019. He has worked as a park ranger\, tree climber\, and tree farm manager with Trees for Houston\, and now works as the Arboretum’s Forest Ecologist.

DESCRIPTION:For children 0 – 24 months and their caregivers\n\n\n\nBabies in nature? Babies ARE nature! Babies who spend time outside are stronger\, healthier\, more confident\, and better sleepers. Learn how to support your Hatchlings as they develop motor skills\, test physical limits\, captivate their sense of wonder\, and get messy in a safe place to try new things.   \n\n\n\nHatchlings will engage in outdoor nature play in this unique opportunity to interact\, explore\, and bond with their caregivers in the natural world. This program will be held outdoors and will include loose parts and messy play with natural sensory elements such as sand\, mud\, grass\, sticks\, leaves\, and water.   \n\n\n\nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required for all Hatchlings classes. \n\n\n\nSelect Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArboretum Member registration for Spring 2026 classes opens Thursday\, December 4 Nonmember registration opens Thursday\, December 11. Become a Family Tree Member or above to access early registration and receive the Member rate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n$12 member / $15 nonmember Per child\, per classMore than one caregiver may accompany a registered child.
