DESCRIPTION:For children 0 – 24 months and their caregivers\n\n\n\nBabies in nature? Babies ARE nature! Babies who spend time outside are stronger\, healthier\, more confident\, and better sleepers. Learn how to support your Hatchlings as they develop motor skills\, test physical limits\, captivate their sense of wonder\, and get messy in a safe place to try new things.   \n\n\n\nHatchlings will engage in outdoor nature play in this unique opportunity to interact\, explore\, and bond with their caregivers in the natural world. This program will be held outdoors and will include loose parts and messy play with natural sensory elements such as sand\, mud\, grass\, sticks\, leaves\, and water.   \n\n\n\nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required for all Hatchlings classes. \n\n\n\nSelect Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArboretum Member registration for Spring 2026 classes opens Thursday\, December 4 Nonmember registration opens Thursday\, December 11. Become a Family Tree Member or above to access early registration and receive the Member rate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n$12 member / $15 nonmember Per child\, per classMore than one caregiver may accompany a registered child. We recommend a towel and a change of clothes for all. \n\n\n\nHatchlings is a dedicated learning and bonding opportunity for caregivers and their children\, birth to 24 months old only. Please plan ahead for older siblings who will need care during this time. \n\n\n\nAccessibility \n\n\n\nThis program is open to all abilities. Some areas where classes might be held are not stroller-friendly or wheelchair accessible. Please plan to carry your Hatchling to various locations and let us know if you need assistance with caregiver accessibility.

This special evening features a romantic walk on softly lit trails\, through the forest and under the moonlight. Guests will experience six food stops and sample specially selected beers and wines. Help raise funds for the Arboretum’s mission of conservation and nature education while enjoying our most unique event of the year. \n\n\n\nEarly bird registration opens Monday\, December 1. Receive $10 off per ticket when you register before December 31. \n\n\n\nTapas on the Trails is a rain or shine event. Current forecasts show a chance of light to moderate rain throughout the day\, so we recommend dressing for the weather. Our team has prepared for wet weather and have a rain plan in place\, so we are confident the evening will be fantastic regardless of conditions. \n\n\n\nAt this time\, there is no rain date and no planned cancellation. The pathway from the Woodway Loop to the Nature Center is lit by permanent pathway lights and check-in is located inside the Nature Center building. \n\n\n\nThe Arboretum recommends using a designated driver\, ride-sharing\, or taxi service for guests who drink alcohol. Drivers may pick-up at the 610 (120 W. Loop N Fwy) or Woodway (4501 Woodway Dr) Entrances\, so please be aware of this when booking their services. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVolunteers\n\n\n\nWe are looking for adult volunteers (21+) to help us with Tapas on the Trails this year! DESCRIPTION:Work on your bird watching skills while helping the Arboretum monitor bird populations on a fun\, relaxed morning walk. Join us on the second Saturday of each month in the courtyard behind the building for a two-hour bird survey led by Arboretum staff members\, Kelsey Low and Theo Ostler. We welcome all levels of bird watching skill and all ages (as long as you’re quiet) – but no dogs\, please! If you have binoculars of your own\, please bring them. Closed toe shoes\, a water bottle\, weather-appropriate hiking attire\, and bug spray are recommended. \n\n\n\nupcoming hikes\n\n\n\nThe December 13 Guided Nature Hike has been cancelled. In this hands-on class\, you’ll learn about different methods of plant propagation. Then\, you’ll get the rare opportunity to collect seeds and cuttings to get your own plants started.
