DESCRIPTION:In-person \n\n\n\nFREEAll ages\, children must be accompanied by an adult \n\n\n\nWetlands are one of Texas’ most valuable treasures! A wetland is a zone of transition where water and land meet. Texas wetlands are more than just swamps or ponds. This unique ecosystem provides many benefits to humans\, as well as homes for numerous plants and wildlife! Explore our wetlands and learn why we need to protect this precious resource. This event is free to the public and includes a self-guided hike through our wetlands and fun activities for the kids! \n\n\n\nThis event will be outdoors and is weather dependent. Social distancing and masks are encourage. Hand sanitizer will be available at the tables.

Check out our upcoming gardening class Native Plant Gardening: Prep and Planting! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo you want to make your backyard into a haven for native plants and wildlife – but how do you know which plants are “good” and which are “bad”? Join us for a crash course in identifying common invasive plants in the Houston area using botanical specimens and examples out on the Arboretum’s trails. We’ll also talk about why invasive plants cause so many problems and some great alternatives for your home garden. \n\n\n\nMasks are required. This class will take place mostly outdoors\, rain or shine. Please dress for the weather and wear walking shoes.
