Check out our next plant-focused class Butterfly Host Plants! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan you see the forest for the trees? In this class we’ll learn the basics of tree ID\, from an introduction to scientific names to an overview of tree morphology. We’ll also take a close look at some of the most common and charismatic trees of the Arboretum and learn general tips and tricks for identifying trees in summer and winter. \n\n\n\nClass will be held rain or shine and will be primarily outdoors. Please dress for the weather. \n\n\n\nInstructor bio: Lawson Taylor is the Forest Ecologist for the Houston Arboretum. He manages the wooded areas of the Arboretum using ecological theories and concepts to maintain a healthy and functional forest ecosystem. He has a degree in Forest Recreation Management from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Registrants\, please check your email for more information.\n\n\n\nIn-person \n\n\n\nEvent opens at 5 pm\, first round starts at 5:30 pm$20 member / $25 nonmember$10 for children 17 and under \n\n\nThis event has SOLD OUT and the waitlist is full.  \n[clear] \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEnjoy a fun evening of bingo on the new Nature Center Lawn! Blankets\, daubers\, and lawn chairs are encouraged. All parties must be spaced out to provide proper distance between all guests. Your ticket includes 6 squares of bingo (3 squares for children) for 6 rounds and two complimentary drink tickets. Guests can bring their own food and beverages\, but individually wrapped snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Small prizes will be awarded to the winners of each round. Additional squares can be purchased at the event. \n\n\n\nSponsored by Saint Arnold Brewing Company \n\n\n\nRegistrations at the event will be subject to availability. Bingo sheets provided to registrants\, daubers will be sold for $3 each.

Join Urban Wildlife Biologist Kelly Norrid to get the real poop on coyotes – literally. You’ll enjoy Saint Arnold Brewing Company beer while you learn about these urban survivors and discover how scientists study coyote diets in Houston. After the talk we’ll go on a night hike to explore coyote habitat and look for nocturnal wildlife. \n\n\n\nDress for the weather and bring a mask to wear indoors. \n\n\n\nInstructor bio: Kelly Norrid is a Houston Urban Wildlife Biologist with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. He provides guidance\, management recommendations\, and public outreach focused on urban animals. He also engages in research and is currently looking at coyote diets in urban Houston.
