Nature Revealed

How do woodpeckers avoid constant concussions? Why do they bang on your gutters in the spring? And what’s up with their crazy tongues? In this class, we’ll explore the extreme and often bizarre adaptations that allow woodpeckers to exploit a unique lifestyle among birds. We’ll examine real woodpecker specimens, learn to identify our local species, and go on a short walk to look for living woodpeckers and their excavations.
