Cool Critters

Ever wonder what animals do when the weather turns cold? Investigate the adaptations and strategies animals use to survive till spring. Together we will discover the challenges animals face during migration and learn how our year-round residents survive Houston’s wintry weather. Throughout the week you will meet some of our Animal Ambassadors, go for scavenger hunts, perform winter experiments and, of course, drink some hot cocoa!

What can you expect from virtual Winter Camp?

  • Daily live Zoom classes with an Arboretum Naturalist at 10 am each day*
  • Pre-recorded video lessons from Arboretum Naturalists
  • Hands-on crafts and experiments, materials provided**
  • Fun, family-friendly outdoor activities

*Some activities require parental involvement.
**Classes will be recorded so that participants can re-watch them or view them later.

Going away for the Holidays? Sign up in advance and take a materials packet with you on your trip! Not enough space in the suitcase? Email Patti Bonnin for shipping options.

Registration note: Parents, when registering your camper, please place them in the age group that matches the age they will be at the time of the camp. Thank you!
