Beginner Botany

June 10 2023 from 10:30 am 12:30 pm

$20 member / $35 nonmember
Instructor: Kelsey Low
Ages 12 and up

There are about 5,000 species of flowering plants in Texas – that’s pretty intimidating for beginner botanists! If you’ve always wanted to identify flowers but don’t know where to start, this is the class for you. We’ll give you a simple introduction to botanical terms and an overview of our most common flower families, and then we’ll go on a hike to see these plants in person and practice our ID skills.

Class will be held rain or shine and will be primarily outdoors. Please dress for the weather.

The Arboretum is currently CLOSED due to the continuing power outage caused by Hurricane Beryl. All classes and events on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 have been cancelled or postponed. Please check back for updates.
