Free to the public, no registration required
All ages

Houston Arboretum & Nature Center celebrates diversity in our ecosystems AND in our communities! The Arboretum is proud to join the national Outdoors for All movement encouraging Houstonians of all backgrounds to explore and enjoy the natural world. Connect with local outdoor affinity groups, see demonstrations of our new all-terrain GRIT Freedom Chair, attend an inclusive bird outing, check out community resources, go on an accessible hike, and participate in activities for guests of all ages and abilities.

Schedule

  • 10:30 am – Inclusive Bird Hike led by Arboretum Naturalist Kelsey Low
  • 11:30 am – Hula & Tahitian Dance Performance by Tropical Rhythms
  • 1:00 pm – Bilingual Storytime (English & Spanish) with Arboretum Naturalist Ellie Rodriguez

Group Meetups

If you are attending Connecting Communities as a group, we have a designated Group Meetup area located in the Nature Center Courtyard. We invite you to use this as a central meeting location – simply tell your group what time to meet and then explore the grounds together!

Parking

Parking is first-come, first-serve, and it is free for the duration of the event. If you’d like to enjoy the Arboretum after the event, bring a clean single-use plastic bag or bottle to recycle at the collection tent in front of the Nature Center near the 610 Parking Loop to receive free parking for the remainder of the day. Thanks to our friends at H-E-B, you can receive free parking when you recycle Friday, November 15 through Sunday, November 17.

One parking pass will be issued per car per day, however you are welcome to bring more than one piece of plastic to recycle with us!
