For most of human existence, the wilds supplied all our food and medicine. Join Dr. Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen as he teaches you what your ancestors knew. This plant walkabout will give you hands-on (as well as nose, fingers, and taste bud) guidance on how to properly identify and utilize the wonderful wild plants of the Houston/East Texas region.

Please dress for the weather and wear walking shoes.

Instructor bio: Dr. Mark Vorderbruggen brings his background as a Ph.D. in chemistry to the world of Houston’s edible and medicinal wild plants. He is the author of “The Idiot’s Guide: Foraging,” runs the informative “Foraging Texas” website, formulates medicinal plant remedies through Medicine Man Plant Co., and is always educating about useful plants on TV, online, and in person.
