upcoming workshops

Community Science
January 18

Learners of all ages seem to always have a device in hand, so community science apps are a perfect way to meet learners where they are. You’ll leave this workshop knowing how to use these popular apps and engage your technology-addicted students with the natural world around them.

Watersheds
February 15

We all live in a watershed, but do you know which one? Water moving across our city is an important topic in times of drought and flood, but it can be a challenging concept for students. Increase your concept knowledge and skills with hands-on experiments and inexpensive classroom demonstrations.

Solar Eclipse 2024
March 21

Get ready for the astronomical event of the year! Learn all you’ll need to know to answer your students’ questions and safely observe the April 8 total solar eclipse.

Seed Saving
April 18

Get more from your school’s gardens! This workshop is a unique opportunity to walk the Arboretum’s gardens to identify, harvest, and store seeds. Seeds tell the story of how plants move around without feet or wings. You’ll take home your own classroom display for future instruction.

Ready to Bug Out?
May 16

This time of year, both teachers and students are ready to bug out on vacation. Nature is bugging out, too! We’ll sweep-net the savanna to collect specimens for up-close observation and mount paper models to become amateur entomologists.

Space is limited, please only register if you plan to attend. If your plans change and you are no longer able to attend, email [email protected]
