Goats at the Arboretum

Goats from GoatScaping LLC will be at the Arboretum this August clearing out invasive and aggressive native understory brush and vegetation to allow for increased biodiversity! This year, the goats will be working on a 7 acre area in the northwest corner of the Arboretum between the 610 Parking Loop, the Ravine Trail, and the Event Lawn. Read below for some helpful tips for viewing the goats at work!

Goat Viewing Tips
- Park at either entrance and follow the yellow arrows along the trails directing you from the Nature Center to the goats’ current location. You can also look at the Goat Visit Map to plan your walk.
- Stay on sidewalks and trails.
- Keep children and dogs away from the fence – it is electrified to keep predators like coyotes out of the area.
- Do not try to feed or pet the goats. They are helping us clear species like poison ivy, and the oils can get on your skin.
- Take lots of photos – if you post them on social media, tag @houstonarboretum so we can see them!
