Native Plant Propagation

April 9 2022 from 10:30 am 12:30 pm

$40 member / $65 nonmember (per person)
Instructor: Ella Matsuda
Ages 12 and up

Many native plants aren’t available at nurseries, so at the Arboretum, we grow them! Tour our nursery and learn about different methods of plant propagation. Then, you’ll get the rare opportunity to collect seeds and cuttings to get your own plants started. Each participant will leave with a dozen species to start from seeds, seedlings, and cuttings, as well as supplies and information to propagate more plants on your own.

This class has reached max capacity. A waitlist is available until filled.

Please dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes.

Instructor bio: Ella Matsuda is a Natural Resource Specialist at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. She leads weekly botany walks as well as restoration and research projects throughout the Arboretum. The plant nursery is one of Ella’s favorite places to be, where she propagates diverse native plants that are used in restoration projects and distributed at Native Plant Sales to create pockets of habitat throughout the city.
