Thursday, June 17 – Wet n’ Wild

Discover the wildest side of Houston: wetlands! There’s more drama going on in a single puddle than on any soap opera. We’ll explore our wetland habitats at the Arboretum on a hike, then go pond-dipping and get up close and personal with wild wetland critters. Finally, we’ll make Toad Abodes to bring home to help wetland animals in our own backyards.

Registration for this event has closed. Please see more exciting options below!

Thursday, July 22 – Savanna Nights

Forget clubs and bars – on a hot summer night, the savanna is where it’s at! First we’ll make wildflower seed paper so you can bring a little savanna home with you. Then we’ll check out the savanna sunset scene on a hike, use sweep nets to discover who’s hiding in the grass, and set up a “light trap” to lure out some of our wildest nighttime partygoers. You’ll be helping us collect real scientific information about our savanna ecosystem!

Thursday, August 19 – A Walk in the Woods

There’s a whole world of strange and wonderful woodland critters that only emerges after dark. We’ll go on a hunt for nocturnal animals through our woodland, rolling over logs and using special UV lights to find bizarre and beautiful “blacklight wildlife.” You’ll also create one-of-a-kind woodburning artwork to take home for yourself or as a gift.
