If your aesthetic is “pumpkin spice,” then we’ve got the bird for you: a Hermit Thrush! With its toasty brown back, cinnamon tail, and white chest covered in chocolate sprinkles, the Hermit Thrush wouldn’t look out of place at a fall bake sale. These autumnal beauties have just returned to the Arboretum to spend the winter. They search for insects and fruit on the forest floor, so listen carefully along the Inner Loop or the Couch Birding Trail for rusting in the leaves and you might spot one of these “pumpkin spice birds.” #BeakOfTheWeek #WildlifeWednesday
