We’ve been catching glimpses of a female Ruby-th We’ve been catching glimpses of a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird around the Nature Center building all summer, which means she’s been nesting! While she can find plenty of flower nectar here to feed herself, she’s also been looking for tiny insects and spiders to feed her babies. Keep an eye out for her around patches of Turk’s Cap, Red Sage, and Trumpet Creeper flowers. #BeakOfTheWeek #WildlifeWednesday

For humans it’s still the height of summer, but For humans it’s still the height of summer, but for many birds it’s already time for fall migration. Orchard Orioles have finished nesting and are slowly wandering south to Mexico and Central America where they’ll spend the winter. Look for these surprisingly small birds in the Savanna and around the parking loops where they hunt for insects and sip nectar from Trumpet Creeper flowers. #BeakOfTheWeek #WildlifeWednesday
