It's officially week two of the 2026 #ArboretumWal It's officially week two of the 2026 #ArboretumWalkingChallenge! This week's hike is the Prairie Habitat Hike, a 1-mile walk along mulch, boardwalk, and gravel. You'll make your way out to the Meadow and back - see how many turtles you can find in and around the Meadow Pond!

As a reminder, we're using a new format this year where one Individual Membership will be hidden along the route for walkers to find each day. No registration necessary, just follow the three easy steps below! Anyone can participate, but you must be 18+ to redeem a Membership.

1️⃣ FOLLOW the week's route.
2️⃣ FIND the golden envelope with the discount code - a new code will be hidden along the route each day!
3️⃣ REDEEM your prize – if you find one of the codes, visit the Arboretum website and use the discount code for a free Individual Membership or a $45 credit toward a higher Membership level.

Our first Educator Workshop of the year is coming Our first Educator Workshop of the year is coming up on Thursday, January 15, and we still have a few spots left! Educators of all types are invited to join us to learn fun, hands-on ways to teach children about science and nature.

Arbor Day is our favorite day: we get to celebrate Arbor Day is our favorite day: we get to celebrate trees and all the incredible things they do! This year we’re all about having fun with trees. Join us Saturday, January 24 from 10 am - 2 pm to test your skill with lumberjack games, build a fairy house, explore the forest on a self-guided hike, and you may even meet Johnny Appleseed! 

Arbor Day is a FREE event for all ages. Free parking will also be available on a first come, first served basis for the duration of the event. Program will be held rain or shine – please dress for the weather. Crafts and other activities run while supplies last.

Come learn Dr. Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen’s Come learn Dr. Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen’s secret family recipe for plant-infused pasta at Cooking Wild: Homemade Pasta on Sunday, January 25. In this hands-on class, you're in for a special treat - you'll be permitted to forage an assortment of wild greens to be infused into your homemade noodles. We’ll cook some and the rest of the pasta will go home with you.

Looking for a fun, free way to get outside and lea Looking for a fun, free way to get outside and learn something this weekend? Join us for our first Guided Nature Hikes of the year on Saturday, January 10 at 10 am and 11 am. Enjoy a guided walk through the Arboretum where you'll learn about the local wildlife, plants, and natural history of this important green space. 

Hikes are free, open to all ages, and no registration is necessary, however they are limited to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis.
