Winter weather is on the horizon, but so is our annual Arbor Day Celebration! Shake off the winter chill and enjoy highs in the 60s next Saturday, January 25 as we celebrate trees and all of the wonderful things they do! This free event runs from 10 am - 2 pm and is jam packed with fun for all ages. We can't wait to see you there!

We’ve noticed a Rufous Hummingbird visiting the Pollinator Garden this week. These tiny birds breed as far north as Alaska and usually migrate south to Mexico for the winter, but one population zips east and spends the cold months on the Texas Gulf Coast. They eat nectar from whatever flowers are blooming, but they also eat a lot of tiny insects and spiders. We’re happy this young male is finding the native blooms and bugs he needs to survive the cold here at the Arboretum. #BeakOfTheWeek #WildlifeWednesda
